Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2007 14:08:31 -0400 (EDT) To: letters@thenation.com Subject: Cockburn's latest rant To the editors: The latest issue of The Nation represents the second one in a row in which Alexander Cockburn spewed easily-refuted scientific nonsense regarding Global Warming. This time, in addition, he impugned the intellectual honesty of everyone on the left, by stating that they choose which scientific theories to accept based on presumed political implications. I am shocked and saddened that the editors don't feel that there is any quality standard to be applied to their columnists. Do the editors ever intend to do anything about this? Do you intend to make any statement regarding what you have published? (Simply publishing rebutting letters to the editor do not seem to me sufficient.) I have read the Nation for decades, and this is without a doubt its worst moment. Mitch Golden
